The company was founded by the colleagues Karl Hilfiker and Max Baumann in 1945. Together they founded Hilfiker & Baumann with domicile at Röntgenstrasse 4 in Zurich. At that time Max Baumann was still working as a camera repairer for the Oschwald brothers and Karl Hilfiker for Brown Boveri in transmission technology.
